What does a jazz band need from our venue?

Less than you might think. The band brings its own instruments and sound gear. Your venue covers a few basics.

Short answer

Your venue provides a power outlet near the band and space for the band to set up. Outdoors, the band also needs full shade. Dream City Jazz brings its own keyboard, amps and drums, and arrives about 45 to 60 minutes before the music starts.

Setup time

The band arrives about 45 to 60 minutes before the music starts. That covers unloading, setting up the keyboard, amps and drums, and getting ready to play. If your venue has load-in rules or a set arrival window, tell us during planning so the timing works.

If the band plays in one spot for cocktail hour and another for dinner, mention that too. Every setup needs a power outlet near the band.

Space and layout

We don't publish a fixed floor size, because rooms and lineups vary. A duo takes less room than a quartet with a horn. Send us your venue and lineup, and we'll talk through where the band will go. Whatever the spot, it needs an outlet nearby.

Playing outside? The rules are a little stricter: full shade, no more than a drizzle, and temperatures between about 55 and 92 degrees. Outdoor events with a jazz band.

What clients say about the day

Brad, Wedding cocktail hour
★★★★★

“It was amazing working with Dream City Jazz. From the first contact, to the pre-wedding meetings, to the day of, everything was easy and professional. Their performance and capabilities were great and set a perfect tone for the end of our ceremony and the cocktail reception. They were even willing to accommodate a move from outside to inside, mid-performance. All in all, they were fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for jazz music for any occasion.”
